What happens when the person missing in the stormy sea isn't someone from another ship, but is one of our own? While we are tasked with reaching a lost world, the Church is equally responsible for launching a rescue mission for the brother or sister who has drifted from the faith. Too often in evangelism, we accidentally become a regulatory committee rather than a rescue team by telling people to fix their behavior before they can follow Jesus. But true rescue doesn't mean throwing a rulebook to a drowning person; it means throwing them a lifeline. The real message of Jesus frees us from the trap of "sin management" and invites us into an inside-out transformation that we could never achieve on our own.

You've heard the expression, "hurt people hurt people." The same is true for those whose lives have been transformed by Jesus; "changed people change people." We cannot effectively evangelize to those around us unless we have been changed by the gospel we proclaim.

"In your hearts honor Christ as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you."

What if evangelism isn’t starting spiritual conversations, but stepping into ones God is already having? From the very beginning of the Kingdom’s advance, people came to Jesus not because someone forced a moment, but because the Holy Spirit was already at work in their hearts. Our role is to recognize and respond to His leading—and it can change the way we see evangelism entirely.

Most of us want to share our faith—we’re just not always sure how to do it in a world that thinks so differently. What if it’s not about having better answers, but learning how to say the same truth in a way people can actually hear? Scripture shows us that the message never changes—but how we communicate it can.

Paul’s life raises a provocative question: how far would you go—what would you give up—to meet people where they are so they might meet Jesus? What if the very freedoms you cherish are the very things God is inviting you to lay down for the sake of someone else’s salvation? Here, we embody a love that doesn’t cling to its rights, but willingly surrenders them so that others might be found.

When Nathanael came to faith in Jesus, he didn’t just take Philip’s word for it—he had to come and see for himself. Real faith often unfolds in stages, from trust to curiosity to fully living in God’s Kingdom. The question for us in this Search & Rescue mission is: How do we walk with people wherever they are on that journey?

In a world where love often means affirmation without boundaries, are we actually helping people—or leaving them where they are? Jesus shows us a better way: a love that enters the mess, speaks truth, and rescues people into new life.

In the middle of the storm, Jesus doesn’t just offer distant hope—He steps in, gives His life to rescue us, and rises again to bring us into new life now. The resurrection isn’t just proof of life after death; it’s the power of a life made new today.
