Rescued to Life

SOS (Palm Sunday Short Sermon)

When Jesus humbly entered Jerusalem on a donkey in Mathew 21, many spread their cloaks on the road and shouted, "Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest!". With today being Palm Sunday, we will take a deep dive into exactly what the word "hosanna" means.

Fueling Up

Search and rescue vehicles don’t move without fuel in the tank, and neither do we. What fuels the hearts of God’s people for the mission of seeking the lost? Scripture offers several answers, but one rises above them all: love.

The Lost He Loves

Lost. It’s one of the ways God describes the condition of humanity apart from Him—and the starting point of every search and rescue story for those found in Christ. We go to great lengths to avoid ever feeling lost in everyday life, yet apart from Jesus, it is the spiritual condition of every human soul. And how will anyone know they are lost unless they first see where they were created to belong?

Fit & Ready

Search and rescue teams know one rule above all: never become the emergency. Jesus has entrusted His followers with the mission of rescuing the lost, which means our lives must be spiritually healthy, steady, and ready for the calling. The question isn’t whether the mission matters—the question is whether we are fit and ready for it.

Operation Search & Rescue

We are aiming at building for the next generation in this season. But here’s the honest question: How can there be a next generation of the Church if the lost are never found? Jesus did not come to build institutions—He came to seek and to save the lost, God’s cherished missing. And on the other side of the resurrection, He looks at His disciples and says, “As the Father has sent Me, I am sending you.” The mission of every believer is clear: Search & Rescue.

Loving the Next Generation of the Church

"He established a testimony in Jacob and appointed a law in Israel, which he commanded our fathers to teach to their children, that the next generation might know them, the children yet unborn, and arise and tell them to their children, so that they should set their hope in God and not forget the works of God, but keep his commandments; and that they should not be like their fathers, a stubborn and rebellious generation, a generation whose heart was not steadfast, whose spirit was not faithful to God." Psalm 78:5-8

Sow the Seed

The Word of God is powerful—but it doesn’t land the same in every heart. Resistance is real, outcomes vary, but the sower’s calling never changes: sow the seed.
