Heartbreakingly, all humanity has a long track record of rejecting those sent by God to guide, counsel, exhort, or rule. When God shows up in the person of Jesus of Nazareth, the rightful and true King, offering citizenship and life in His invading kingdom, humanity behaves no differently. Instead of receiving His reign, they put their King on trial and cried for his crucifixion. This ultimately forces every one of us to ask ourselves how we’d fill in the blank when we say, “NO KING BUT ______________."
