The Illumination

God’s campaign of cosmic sabotage, the divine invasion of heaven’s light into a world shrouded in darkness, begins with the arrival of Jesus. Yet His advance doesn’t storm the capitals of nations or overthrow earthly powers. His invasion is far more personal, far more confronting: He marches directly into the darkness of the human heart.

I Am Coming Soon

Jesus ends His letter to the Church with a declaration that echoes through every generation: “I am coming soon.” How does the church hold onto that promise when the waiting feels long and the frustrations of the Fall so deep? We do so with a posture of a people living in eager expectation.

Dear Lukewarm Church

As we pull out of the mailbag, Jesus’ final letter to the seven churches, we find Him calling out a church that had grown so self-sufficient they no longer depended on heaven’s resources—leaving them distastefully lukewarm to Jesus. His words still echo today: Have we become lukewarm, too?

Dear Faithful Church

Today, church success is too often measured by attendance and budgets. Yet in His letter to Philadelphia, Jesus celebrates a small, suffering church—not for its size or strength, but for its faithfulness and fruitfulness in the midst of hardship. His metrics must become ours: faithfulness and fruitfulness.

Dear Dead Church

In His letters to the churches, Jesus doesn’t flatter—He reveals. To Sardis, He speaks to the danger of drifting into reputation over reality. It’s a call to wake up, strengthen what remains, and recover what’s been lost. Jesus’ words tear away appearances and ask us to face a hard question: are we truly awake, or just acting alive?

Dear Tolerant Church

Jesus’ letter to the Church in Thyatira teaches us that not all tolerance is love, and not all peace is faithfulness. In our age that celebrates a “new” tolerance, Jesus calls His people to discern truth from deception and to stand firm when anything or anyone is quietly leading hearts astray.
